: Translation is a communicative process. This process has a deep involvement in
foreign linguistic education. The paper specifies some didactic aspects regarding
newspaper and literary text translation. The translation utility comes from its involvement
of more processes at the linguistic and psychological level. The didactic use of translation
as a technique has a great influence on students` knowledge. From this point of view
translation becomes a productive activity in the cognitive area that generates knowledge.
